Beta Swing Pivoting Magnifier, High Quality Colour Corrected Lens, 10x, 12x & 20x
The lens in Beta magnifiers produces sharp, high contrast images free of distortion, colour-fringing, and fully usable from edge to edge. The folding case protects the lens when not in use.
The colour-corrected lenses used in Beta magnifiers is only one of the reasons for their extreme popularity, especially in the printing industry where it is possible to clearly recognize the individual halftone dots at a distance of 20 cms. The increased distance between the eye and lens prevents shadows falling on the object being inspected and provides long relief on the eye.
The optical system is both achromatic and aplanatic consisting of three lenses subdivided into two groups with anti-reflection coating.
The lens in the most popular 12x model contradicts the old compromise that the field of view is automatically reduced as magnification factor increases. In spite of 12x magnification the lens has a 15 mm field of view when positioned against the eye. At a distance of 10 cms it is still approx. 6 mm and at 20 cms approx. 5 mm.
Adustable Focus
The lens is on a threaded barrel for adjustable focus. A locking ring prevents accidental change of the focus setting.
Using Beta Magnifiers:
The lense can be focused initially by moving it close to the eye and then turning the focus ring to the right distance. The lens can then be fixed with the counter-ring present on the thread. Then hold the lense at the optimum distance for the user or move your eye away until the desired distance is reached.
