Capture images with more depth and detail

The Extended Depth of Field (EDOF) in Dino-Lite Digital microscopes is an image processing technology that offers enhanced image clarity and depth of field. This feature is designed to overcome one of the fundamental limitations encountered in traditional microscopy: the shallow depth of field at higher magnifications.

For professionals in fields such as material sciences, electronics, museums and agriculture, the EDOF feature streamlines the microscopy process. It eliminates the need for manual refocusing over various planes, thereby reducing the time required for specimen analysis.

EDOF

Using Dino-Lite's EDOF is simple, with 1 click of the mouse the microscope automatically captures several images at different focus levels and compiles them into a single, depth-enhanced image. EDOF images maintain the picture quality from the original pictures and can be stored and viewed in the DinoCapture 2.0 or 3.0 software*.

EDOF has more to offer than just image stacking

Auto-Focus

Refocus Mode: right-click your mouse and pick a different focal point in your image. The microscope will refocus to that point. This useful feature enables a quick view of areas out of focus before activating image stacking

One-Touch Autofocus: Automatically focus and refocus as long as your subject is within focal range.

DPQ: Acquire depth information with compatible models. Users can acquire depth information from the focus shift between two focal planes during live imaging. Read about the compatible models and how to perform this process here or contact us for more information.

*EDOF is only available with certain Dino-Lite models and while using DinoCapture 2.0 or 3.0 for Windows.
