Founded in 1936 by Arthur Kingston, Combined Optical Industries Ltd  as it was known then, was regarded as a leader in plastic optics. Its pioneering techniques in the precision moulding of plastic optics using injection and compression moulding facilitated the company’s growth – and as increasing selections of low-vision products were introduced, awareness of the brand name ‘COIL’ also grew, propelling the brand to global recognition.

By 2000, the business had outgrown its space and moved nearby to a new purpose-built high-tech facility that offers an outstanding working environment.  Eighty years since its foundation, COIL remains true to its original ethos, aiming to deliver quality products and service to customers at all times.
